SHORTAGE OF BEEF IN SOUTH A shortage of beef in Southland has proved so acute that one firm has been forced to have chilled beef obtained from the North Island to supply its customers. A consignment was sent to Bluff by the Wlaunganui from Wellington to enable the firm to fulfil special contracts, and it is reported that the experiment was successful. * * # South Island Wheat Crop Reports from all growing districts go to show Itiat yields of wheal in the coming harvest in the South Island will he up to average. l 7 p lo the present. the growth of crops lias been exceptional. There is no change in the milling wheal market. .Millers continue to work on their stocks.
