Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union.

WAIAU PA BRANCH. ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW A PRONOUNCED SUCCESS The annual flower show, organised by the Waiau Pa Women’s Division was a pronounced success. The number of entries showed a big increase on any previous year, while the attendance was one of the largest yet seen at a flower show in Waiau Pa.

The • standard of exhibits was exceptionally high, especially in the cut flower and vegetable sections, while the roses section and the decorative classes provided some very good exhibits. Mrs A. S. Cole, president, called on Mrs Lewis of Karalca branch, to open the show, and Mr E. Ilosking, the judge, complimented the division on the splendid improvement shown. Principal awards were: —

SHOW AT POKENO SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION The llowcr show which was held in Ihe Pokeno hall last Friday under the auspices of the Pokeno Women’s Division, was an outstanding success. Visitors were attracted from far and near. There were record entries in all classes. A variety of beautiful spring flowers made an attractive display in the flower section. Blooms of all shades and varieties were to be seen in the open section. The needlework section, which attracted a large number of entries in fanoywork, sewing and knitting was of a high standard. Hand-knitted cardigans made in a variety of patterns, and dainty baby 'clothes were much admired. The supper cloths in white and colours were very beautifully worked and showed the ability of the exhibitors. The show was opened by Mrs A. Crawford of Onewhero. After the singing of the National Anthem, Mrs Craw- i ford addressed the gathering and in a . neat speech congratulated the Women’s Division members on the fine dis- | play. Mr and Mrs Sharp of Ramarama, were the judges.

The Stewards The stewards were: Secretary, Miss Wright; flowers, Mrs Wlison, Mrs A. McGill and Mrs Patterson; sewing and knitting, Miss Lalor; cooking and pro-, duce, Mrs and Miss Otto; “bring and buy stall,” Mesdames Dean, Brown and Slipper; ;iee cream, Miss B. Dean and Miss .1. McAnulty; afternoon tea, Mrs Hannah, Mrs McGlay, Mrs Gulland, Mrs Pendergrast and a number of willing helpers. Mrs Pugh ably carried out the duties of door-keeper. Trophies were donated by Messrs Wallace and Co., the Farmers’ Trading Co., Mr Harris, Mrs Dean, Mrs Lennan,V

Miss Wright and Mrs McAnnultv. The prizes were presented by the president, Mrs Lennan. The awards were:—
