Franklin Table Tennis Championship Tourney
OUTSTANDING ENTRIES SURPRISES IN LADIES’ EVENTS S. ANDREW'S PLAYERS PROMINENT The Franklin Table Tennis Association conducted its first championship tournament on Monday evening in the Oddfellows’ hall when outstanding entries, representative of every club in the Association, were received. The men's singles was won by C. Duncan, while Miss M. Logan of Pukekawa annexed the ladies’ title. Miss Logan was also successful in winning the ladies’ doubles with Mrs Ingram. The men’s doubles and mixed doubles events were not completed. A surprise was caused in the ladies’ singles by the defeat in the quarter-finals of the first seeded player, Airs Ingram of Pukekawa by Miss Jamieson who played well to reach the semi-finals and was also a finalist in the ladies’ doubles with Miss Hart. Four St. Andrew’s players came through to the semi-finals of the men’s singles, the final being a triumph for “youth.” Results were:—
