L.G.U. COMPETITION

SENIOR MEDAL TO MISS WALTERS

JUNIOR TO MISS P. GAMBLE The Papalcura Ladies’ Golf Club’s monthly L.G.U. medal competition resulted in Miss M. Walters winning the senior with a card of 93, 15—78. Miss Phyllis Gamble with a score of 117, 36 —81 won the junior. In the semi-finals for the Fernaig cup Mrs J P. Kidd lost to Mrs J. French and Miss White lost to Miss M. Walters.

MANUKAU COMPETITIONS FARMERS’ CUP TO S. GOLLAN The Farmers’ Cup, played for by members of the Manukau Golf Club, was won by S. Gollan, wholput up the best scores in three Staple*Tord bogey rounds: A. Bridges was second and E. A J. Busing third. Scores in the final round were: R. J. Alexander, 30, 8—38; S. Gollan, 17, 18—35; D. Bail'd, 21, 13 —34; A. Bridges, 17, 17 —34; G. Tuck, 25, 8 —33; H. ICinniburgh, 18, 17—35; R. C. Nixon, 16, 17—33; J. Gilmore, 19, 14—33. In the first round of the senior championship/ last season’s champion, J. Rogers, was defeated by F. Fearnley, lup at the 22nd. Fearnley was 3 up and 4 to play when Rogers squared the match at the 18th. Four more holes were necessary to settle the issue.
