HONORARIUM INCREASED

TENNIS SECRETARY SERVICES APPRECIATED The Franklin Lawn Tennis Association at its meeting last evening decided t.'i increase the secretary’s honorarium for this year to £25. The president, Mr ,T. A. Sparks, in moving that the honorarium be increased Mated that the secretary’s duties, during the last few years, had increased to Such hn extent that it was unfair to expect a man to do the work, more or less gratuitously. While the work had grown, responsibility. had increased also. The Easter tournament last season, due to weather conditions, bad dragged on for three weeks and all this time the secretary was expected io be on the spot and at the beck and call of competitors. The association could not expect any man to do the work without being recompensed. The finances, however, did not permit paying the secretary an amount his services warranted. He therefore moved that for the coming year the secretary be granted an honorarium of £25. Mr C. C. Munro (Waiuku) in seconding the motion, referred to the good work done by Mr Morrin. The increase proposed was merely an expression of appreciation of his efforts on behalf of the association he said. The motion was carried unanimously. Mr W. C. Morrin, in reply, thanked the delegates and added that the work to him had been a labour of love. However it had grown to such an extent that if was now too much to regard the position as an honorary one. At no time had he ever thought of making a living out of it. He appreciated very much the vote of appreciation.
