POKENO NOTES
NATIONAL PARTY FUNCTION CANDIDATE ATTENDS A dance was held in the Pokeno hall on Monday evening under the auspices of the National Party. The hall and supper room looked quite gay with bowls of spring flowers. The hall was packed. Mr Percy Ryburn in introducing Mr J. M. Allan, the National candidate for Ilauraki, spoke in the highest terms of the record of' the Allan family, of Annandale, Pialco.. Mr Allan, in reply, thanked the large gathering for the enthusiastic reception given him and said he would soon be _back again to give his political viewpoints to the electors. Items were given between dances, by the following: Mr Colin Wood, songs; Mr It. Wilson, recitation; Mr Matson, humorous items.
Novelty dances were won by Miss' Esme Mcllroy and partner, and Miss Betty Dean and partner. The ladies’ committee Avorked untiringly to make their part of the function a success. Holt’s orchestra, supplied excellent music, encores being demanded. Messrs G. Pope and Clark Leatham made efficient masters, of ceremonies. A dainty supper enhanced the enjoyment of the evening..
ONEWHERO NOTES Personal Mrs R. Muir and her two children,,. Petty and Frank, of Onewhero, aretouring the south. Mrs A. Crawford of Onewhero, is visiting llelensville. Mr A. Workman of Onewhero, has returned from a holiday in Auckland. Mr lan Tullock, who has been relieving at the Onewhero post office for the past few months, has been, transferred to Martinborough, nearWellington.
