SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL * 1 GENERAL BUSINESS j A special meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council was held last week : when there were present: His Worship the Mayor (Air John Routly), i Alessrs G. T. Parvin, P. T. Field, F. W. Stembridge, F. J. Morrow.) G. H. Armstrong, R. Higgle, AV. IF. Adams and A. F. Brown, together with the actingtown clerk (Air W. T. Cheeseman) and the foreman (Mr S. J. Clews). The Franklin Electric-power Board intimated that it was prepared to fall in with the borough’s request regarding the hours for pumping water, pro- 1 vlding the times did not clash with the peak-load hours. —The board is to be j thanked and Ihe pumping staff askelfc to confer with the power board engineer on the matter. An offer by Alessrs Cooper and Curd, Ltd. to purchase the site of the present council chambers was referred to the finance committee for a report. The Tmcal Government Loans Board advised that it was prepared to grant an extension of time for the uplifting of the unraised portion of ttie £SOOO loan sanctioned for drainage connections to properties in the borough. The District Engineer, New Zealand Railways, asked what the council proposed to do with his offer to contribute £175 toward the provision of a water supply to the railway settlement in Birch road. —It was decided to reply stating that the matter was in the hands of the waterworks committee, and that he would he advised of the position as soon as a decision was reached.
