INSPECTOR’S REPORT EFFECT OF WEATHER CONDITIONS AGAINST USE OF SODIUM Tlio inspector ol' noxious weeds, Mr P, Grice, presented the following- report at Monday's meeting- of the Franklin Gounty Gouncil:— “Since last meeting of the council I called on property owners who not cleared frontages on the following'" roads : - Whangarata-Razorback road,. Whangarata-Pokeno road, KingseatKafaka to Drury road, Hermitage drain, Aka Aka, Pukekohe-Runciman (scenic) road, Whiriwhiri road, Waiuku, Kariotahi road, Waiuku, Batty's road, Karaka. A great deal of work has been done on road frontages in the last few months and every effort is being made to get all roads cleared, where there is delay in commencing work formal notice is always served, “Ragwort eradication: As instructed by the council I paid more attention to ragwort inspection work during last month and eradication work has been put in hand on several places. Weather conditions have been against theuse oL' sodium cElorate but as s i oon as Ihe weather improves property owners will be pressed to push on with, ragwort eradication. It is my intention; to serve notices on all owners not complying with my requests so that early action may be taken to havework done, where default is made. “Government grant, 1938-1939: 1 j-f commend the council to apply for a Government grant to be made available for the purpose of ragwort eradication on Crown and Native lands, absentee sections and the few properties the council has had to deal with each year owned by indigent owners. “Sodium chlorate and atlacide: Since June 1 484 lbs of sodium chlorate or atlacide has been issued from council stocks —ample supplies areheld and from now forward it is expected there will be a heavy demand. The report was adopted.
