MAGISTRATE TO TOUR.
TRIP OVERSE/fk,
MR LEVIEN’S INTENTION. Mr F. H. Levien, Stipendiary Magistrate, who has been in charge of the South Auckland circuit (which includes Pukekohe and Papakura) for several years, will go on leave as from March 31, and plans to sail for England on April 4. Mr Levien’s magisterial duties will be assumed by Mr W. H. Freeman of Invercargill. FAREWELLED THIS IVIORNING. BY PUKEKOHE SOLICITORS. Prior to the commencement of business at the sitting of the Pukekohe Court this morning, Mr F. A. Hosking addressed the bench stating that he understood that the sitting would be the last over which His Worship (Mr F. 11. Levien, S.M.) would preside for a considerable time. On behalf of counsel he desired to express appreciation of the cordial relationship which had always existed between his Worship and members of the bar. it had been realised that the duties of his Worship had been of an arduous nature owing to the large territory to he covered and it w r as hoped that his Worship’s trip overseas would be a safe and enjoyable one and that he would enjoy a well-deserved rest. In reply Mr Levien thanked the Bar for their expressions of goodwill and said that owing to the depression his furlough had been delayed. Despite the fact that on occasions he had had to speak a little more harshly, the relationship between bench and bar had always been most cordial and the atmosphere pleasant. During his absence of six months his Worship trusted that the same relationship would continue with his successor.
