Friends of Mrs Matuschka of Helvetia road, will regret to learn ■ that she is again lying seriously ill at her home.

At this week’s meeting of the Franklin Power Board a motion of sympathy was passed with Mr F. A. Hoskihg,.. the board’s solicitor, who suffered a bereavement recently.

Mr V. C. Morrill is still an inmate of Auckland hospital, but is reported to be progressing favourably. He was injured as a result of being thrown from a motor cycle. Mr Eric Salt, who was gravely injured when a car in which he was travelling skidded in some loose metal and overturned, is reported to be making excellent progress toward recovery-.-' He is still in hospital. Miss’ A. Kensington, who is an inmate of the Mater Misericordiae hospital, is reported to be making very slow progress. At this week’s meeting of the Franklin Power Board regret was expressed with Miss Kensington in her illness and the secretary was asked to convey the board’s wishes for a speedy recovery.

Friends of Mr H. Puckridge will be pleased to learn that he is making good progress in the Auckland hospital and expects to be discharged from the institution in a week or two. It will be recollected that Mr Puckridge was injured some weeks ago with a piece of timber when operating a saw in his firm’s workshop. Miss M. A. Shanahan of Hamilton, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs J. A. Lowry of Bombay, returned home by the Rotorua express today. Miss Shanahan, who is a daughter of the Rev. Shanahan, 'formerly of Bombay, and a sister of Dr. Shanahan, a Doctor of Science in London and one of the greatest authorities on foodstuffs in the world today, recently returned from a tour abroad.
