DEMAND EXCEEDS SUPPLY.

HIGHER PRICES EXPECTED.

CONCRETE TO BE USED. Owing to the demand for small poles for service lines, and the periodical difficulty of obtaining Supplies from Australia, the Franklin Power Board at its meeting on Tuesday,; authorised the engineer, Mr L. G. Sharp, to manufacture concrete service poles.

Mr Sharp informed the meeting that there were indications that hardwood poles would he more expensive in future. Concrete poles, he pointed out, while a little dearer possessed lasting qualities far ahead of wood.

Members considered that those requiring service poles should be given the option of saying which they required, although concrete poles were a little dearer.

Mr Sharp stated that some work was held up pending the arrival of supplies.
