Dairy Cattle Sell Readily at Pukekohe.
SATISFACTORY PRICES. LARGE OF BEEF. FAT PIGS IN REQUEST. All classes of dairy cattle sold readily at the Pukekohe sale conducted yesterday by Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited. The yarding was a good one, and prices were regarded as satisfactory. The best cows sold up to £ll, the top price for heifers being £1 less. Beef, store and boner cattle were penned in full numbers and late rates ruled. Extra heavy prime cows and heifers made up to £l2 10s, while four heifers from Mr W. Batty of Patumahoe, averaged £lO 15s. In the pig section there were larger entries than usual. Fats were in keen demand, baconers and porkers realising satisfactory prices. All stores sold at late rates. Quotations are:--Dairy: Best cows, in milk, £8 to £0; good, £6 to £7 15s; others, £3 to £5 15s- best cows, close to profit, £9 to £11: good, £6 10s to £8 10s; others, £3 to £6: best heifers, in milk, £8 10s to £10; other calved heifers, £4 5s to £7: best heifers, close to profit, to £8 10s; good, £5 10s to £6 15s; small and backward, £3 15s to £5.
Beef and stores: Extra heavy prime cows and heifers, £9 5s to £l2 10s, heavy cows and heifers, £7 15s to £8 15s; lighter, £6 to £7 2s fid; light, £4 2s fid to £5 12s fid; other tillable cows, £3 10s to £4; heavy boner cows, £2 2s to £2 15s; others, £1 5s to £2; fresh-conditioned store cows, £4 to £4 15s; other store cows, £3 to £3 12s fid; medium-weight steers, £9 to £9 16s; advertised two to three-year-old steers, £7 16s to £9 7s yearling Jersey heifers, £3 2s to £4 6s; others, £1 6s to £1 18s; pedigree service bulls Bgns to 15'gns; grade service bulls. 6* gns to llgns; potter buls, £2 to £5. Sheep: One pen of small, woolly hoggets averaged £1 7s. Pigs: Choppers, £1 15s to £2 15s; heavy baconers, £3 14s to £4 18s, medium, £3 9s to £3 12s; light, £3 to £3 6s; heavy porkers, £2 12s to £2 16s; medium, £2 2s to £2 8s; light, £1 15s to £2; unfinished, and small, £1 8s to £1 13s: good stores, £1 10s to £1 15s; smaller. £1 4s to £1 7s; slips, 19s to £1 4s; best weaners, 14s to 18s; weedy and small, 8s to 12s; sows due to farrow, £2 10s to £4 10s; baconers averaged fid per lb and porkers fi-Jd.
