Tuakau Town Board Affairs.

MONTHLY MEETING.

REPAIRS TO ROADS. The Tuakau Town Board in meeting on Monday evening decided to make application to the Labour Department for permission to use unemployed on the reforming of Carr street. There were present: Mr G. Arrowsmilh (chairman), Messrs A. Royle, A. F. Escott, Wm, Barnaby, T. G. Morgan, M. A. Cruickshank and Mr M. R. D. McGahan (clerk). An apology for absence was received from Mr S. H. Crawford. Application was made by the bowling club for improvements to be effected to the road leading to the green. —It was decided to effect repairs before opening day and to consider metalling later. Permission was granted to Mr H. McGuire, under usual conditions, io place a water pipe across the side road near his residence. Authority was given for a fence to be erected along a bank near the railway overhead stockbridge.

It was decided to repair a large hole in the sealed surface near White bridge.

The purchase of 21 cubic yards of metal for repairs was approved. Building permits were issued to Mr A. T. Prince (erection of wash-house for Mr J. McNeil) and to Mr H. 3 Woodbridge in respect to a residence. An application from Mr P. R. J. Graham in respect to drainage at the bowlisg green was referred to the health inspector.

The chairman , reported that the walls of the memorial hall had been painted. The erection of a retaining wall on Harrisville hill road was approved.

Mr Barnaby congratulated the foreman on the splendid job made of removing willows from the stream near the dairy factory.

It was decided to concrete portion of the footpath opposite the post office.

An expenditure of £2 12s 6d on rewiring the memorial hall was approved.

The tender of the Tuakau Tennis Club for the use of the memorial hall on Labour night was accepted, the price being £3 10s. Accounts totalling £276 3s 4d were passed for payment.
