Events in the Country Districts-

ITEMS OF INTEREST.

POKENO NOTES. A SIMPLE ACCIDENT. An accident which at the time appeared to be nothing to cause alarm befell Mr G. G. Munro on Tuesday evening. While feeding pigs he ran a rusty nail into a hand. Mr Munro took the usual precaution to prevent poisoning and proceeded with the evening work. However, within a very short time Mr Munro was in great pain and was unable to continue milking his herd. His arm and hand were greatly swollen. Medical aid was at once summoned and the doctor ordered his immediate removal to the Auckland hospital. His condition is now satisfactory.

The many friends of Mr B. Munro, who recently underwent an operation at the Auckland hospital, will be glad to learn that he is progressing favourably and has returned to his home.

GLENBROOK NEWS. A large number attended the Glenbrook Basketball Club’s dance on Saturday. Mrs Mitchell and Mr E. McKinney played music, Mrs Dunsmuir contributing extras. Mr A. Gilmore was master of ceremonies. A Monte Carlo was won by Miss B. Wymer and Mr A. Barton. Mrs Tilt was the winner of a dressing-table set and Mr E. Dromgool won a tin of tea.
