During the week-end working bees have been busy topdressing the Manu - lcau Golf Club links. The triplex mower lias been working overtime these last few days cutting the fairways. First Prize Winner. A young man, Mr Ernest Clark, employed in a Papakura store, has won first prize in a window-dressing competition for a proprietary line. The display is now in Papakura premises. The prize is £5. I Henry and Lent. A teacher in the Anglican Sunday school at Papakura was the other day impressing on her class the observance of Lent. The children were told that it was necessary to give up something in the Lenten period. “Now Henry,” said the teacher to a little boy, “what will you give up?" “Please miss, I’ll give up the collection,” was the lad’s reply. Needless to say the teacher almost collapsed. Sunday School Picnic. The Christ church Anglican Sunday school picnic took place on Saturday. This year the young folk and their teachers were taken by motor to Cockle’s bay. near Howick. The weather was perfect, and the children had a wonderful day in the sun and in the water. The vicar, Rev. W. C. Wood, was also present.
