“OF COURSE NOT.”
NOT A “IWETH.” DRINKER. •*Do you drink whiskey?” Sergeant .1. T. Cowan asked a young Maori woman, a defendant, in the Pukekohe Court on Friday. Defendant (rather indignantly): No! The sergeant: ho you drink methylated spirits? Defendant (with downcast eyes and blushing) : Of course not! The sergeant followed with another question.
Defendant : You’ll have to excuse me: I don’t know English too well. The sergeant : Yes you do. You went to school.
