Activities of the Women’s Institute,

THE BOMBAY BRANCH. FEBRUARY MEETING HELD. PICNIC AT MARAETAI. The monthly meeting of the Bombay Women’s Institute was held on Tuesday afternoon. The president, Mrs H. J. Flay, presided. ' Twentyfour members were present and one new member was welcomed . A visitor from Hamilton was also welcomed by the president. Arrangements* were made for the annual picnic to he held at Maraetai on Saturday, February 22. The president, Mrs Flay, also reminded members of the annual meeting and election of officers in March, and expressed the wish that each member would send in her nomination for the committee. The roll-call for the month was. “My experience in the recent gale.” The social hour was arranged by Mrs Johnson, Mrs Tubbs and Mrs A. Whitehead, and a very happy time was spent by all. The programme arranged included a game, musical box, w T hich was won by Miss Polden. A flower competition was won by Mrs A. P. Browne.

The competition for the month, “Best, article from an old felt, hat,” resulted: Mrs A. Brown 1, Mrs J. Rudd 2. Both members made a tea cosy.

The hostesses were Mrs R. Evans Mrs W .Grant and Mrs J. Henderson
