LODGE AFFAIRS.
STAR OF PAPAKURA, No. 82. OFFICERS INSTALLED. Last month the Star of Papakura lodge. No. 82 1.0.0. F., was opened by Mr R. Cooper, Noble Grand. Visiting Noble Grands and brethren were then admitted from Otahuhu, Westmere. Star of Auckland, Star of Ellerslie, Rawhiti, Epsom, Alberta, Excelsior, Clevedon and Star of Waiuku lodges.
Mr G. Arnott, D.D.G.M., Auckland district, Mr 11. 11. Munro. D.D.G.M. Franklin district, and Mr F. S. New bold, Grand Lodge representative, were then admitted and introduced. The Grand Marshall, Mr G. A. Johnson, then sought admission and conducted the Grand Master, Mr A. J. Guy into the lodge-room and introduced him to the Noble Grand. After the Grand Master had been welcomed he replied and stated that he was fulfilling a promise made by him of visiting the lodge during Mr Cooper’s term of office. After a short recess the meeting consisting of approximately 80 brothers was called to order and Mr Newbold and his installing team from Wynyard Lodge installed the following officers into their respective chairs: — Junior past grand, Mr R. Cooper; noble grand, Mr ,T. 11. Hill; vice-grand, Mr C. J. Allington: secretary, Mr A. G. Beams: treasurer, Mr .Tames Barker; warden, Mr A. Richardson; conductor, Mr C. A. Stewart; R.S. to N.G., Mr John Barker: L.S. to N.G., Mr ,T. McGill: R.S. to V.G., Mr H. Kirton: L.S. to V.G., Mr A. Burgess: chaplain, Mr T. Duncklev; inside guardian, Mr A. Wallis. The fine floor-work of the Wynyard team was an inspiration to the members who witnessed the ceremony and revealed what could be obtained from a true interpretation of the ritual of the order.
After the installation tlie Grand Master addressed the meeting and congratulated the officers of Star of Papakura Lodge on their elevation to their respective chairs. He 1 lien thanked Mr Newbold and. his installing team for the enthusiasm which they had shown in putting on so fine a ceremony, arid lie hoped the visiting brothers would return to their lodges and try and introduce into l.licir installing teams the same standard of floor work as they had seen that night. Congratulations and fraternal greetings were conveyed by Messrs A. Arnott. D.D.G.M.. If. 11. Munro. D.D.G.M.. C. A. Johnson, grand marshall, 11. M. Barriball. P.D.D.G.M., F. Rule, P.D.D.G.M.. noble grands and brothers of the various lodges represented.
Mr Hill. N.G., thanked the grand master and brothers for their congratulations and fraternal greetings and asked the different speakers to reciprocate their greetings. The grand master presented past grand certificates to past grands. Messrs C. A. Stewart. R. Kemp and James Barker. A very successful meeting was dosed at 1 I o'clock.
