FIRMING IN PRICES.

SALE AT PUKEKOHE. RULING RATES FOR PIGS. A keener demand, with firmer prices, existed for dairy stock which came forward in large numbers at the Pukekohe sale conducted on Thursday by Alfred Buckland and Sons, Limited. There was an extra heavy yarding of beef, and values were on a par with late rates. Jersey heifer calves were dull of sale. Pigs came forward in fair numbers and met with a steady sale at Westfield rates. Quotations are. —

Dairy : Best cows and heifers, £5 10s to £6 12s 6d: lesser quality. £4 to £5 ss; backward cows and heifers, £3 to £4 ss: small heifers and cull cows, £2 to £2 17s 6d. Beef and stores: Heavy prime cows and heifers, £4 7s to £5 9s; lighter, £3 16s to £4 3s: light, £3 to £3 12s 6d: aged heavy cows, £2 to £2 16s: boner cows, 16s to £1 14s: store cow’s, £1 10s to £2 ss; light fat steers, £6 12s Od; 3 to 4-years-old steers, £3 10s to £4 8s: boner bulls, £1 5s to £4 ss.

Pigs: Heavy baconers, £3 7s to £3 11s; medium, £2 16s to £3 2s; light, £2 7s to £2 13s; heavy porkers, £1 18s to £2 2s: medium, £1 13s to £1 16s: light, £1 7s to £1 11s; small and unfinished, £1 to £1 ss: stores, best, 16s to £1 Is; slips, 11s to 14s: good weaners, 7s to 10s: weedy, 3s to ss;
