The question was referred to the finance committee so that it could meet the owner of the property next to the green. Noxious Weeds. “I have served 22 notices, mostly to absentee owners, since my last report,” stated the noxious weeds inspector, Mr G. W. O’Connell, to this week’s meeting of the town board. Banks and other institutions controlling quite a number of allotments had been notified by letter, he added. All the absentee-owned sections in the station estate had been cleared. One of the worst sections on the Great South road was owned by a person whose address was not known. The Public Trust Office looked after all properties it controlled, but other Government departments were not so considerate. Owing to the abnormal growth, several section owners would have to cut the weeds again, and others had to defer the work until there was less growth.
