ITEMS OF INTEREST. ONEWHERO NEWS. SUCCESSFUL GARDEN PARTY. • Despite the inclemency of the weather on Tuesday, a successful garden parly was held at Mr and Mrs ,T. W. Henderson’s residence. ' The' function' was arranged by Onewhcro members of the Tuakau Anglican church and'there was a fair attendance. Splendid sales were made from the various stalls which were in chargeof the following: Cake, Mrs Hamit- 1 ton; needlework, Mesdames Bates and B. Walter; 'produce, Mrs Patullo; sweets, Misses K. Walter, M. Dyer and J. Henderson; afternoon tea, Mesdames W. Walter and Raby. A clock goif : competition was won by Mr H. Dyer. A sum of- £7 9s was received duringthe afternoon. HARRISVILLE NEWS. . FINAL SOCIAL EVENING. There was an exceptionally large attendance at the final dance for the season held in Mr J. Hansen’s barn onMonday evening. The function 1 wasvery enjoyable. Dance music wasplayed by Mr T. H. Midgley of Pukekohe and Mr J. Hansen was master of' ceremonies. Mrs Hansen and Mr Cr. Munro were winners of a Monte Carlowaltz. Supper was served;' TE KOHANQA NEWS. BACHELORS’ BALL. A very pleasant time was spent inthe Te Kohanga hall on-Friday even v ing when the bachelors of thie die* trict organised a ball which was attended by over 100. The decorations .were appropriate, representing spider webs made of .paper. Deed’s orchestra supplied the music and Mr G. Flint contributed extras. Miss Mclnnis and Mr W. Parry w.on a Monte Carlo waltz and Miss M. Monday and Mr S. .Tones'were dinners of a spot waltz. An. excellent supper , was served and added to theenjoyment of the evening.

BOMBAY NOTES. Swimming has become very .popular at Bombay. •On a recent-afternoon there were 75 swimmers and spgfc. tators .at, one of the pools i?nd 50 at,, another. In tlTe evenings all three pools arc well patronised. During.instruction on Wednesday evening, there were 37 at the pool. Quite a number are learners.

The Bombay Swimming Club com’' mittee met the Bombay school committee last evening, arrangements being made to instruct the schoolchildren in swimming on certain afternoons each week, during the current, month. The club is holding a dance at theBombay hall to-morrow evening.
