Rep. Cricket Match Last Week-End.

PUKEKOHE DEFEATED. WIN FOR THE PLAINS. MARGIN OF NINE RUNS. The Pukekohe cricket representatives journeyed to Maramarua on Sunday to meet the Hauraki Plains eleven, and after an enjoyable and interesting game suffered defeat by a narrow margin. Plains batted first and after an indifferent beginning—six wickets were down for 18 —staged a recovery to close the innings for 76 runs. Pukelcbhe also met disaster at the start, three wickets falling in the first over to Dimmock, but with the appearance of Johnson and G. Lawrie the “rot” was stopped and the score was carried to 45 before a separation was effected. However, the visitors plugged away and scored 103. Plains’ second, strike produced 129, leaving Pukekohe to get 103 for a win. This they failed to do by 10 runs. Details are:—
