Women’s Hair Caught in Machinery.
PORTION OF SCALP TORN. ACCIDENT AT ARARIMU. To have portion of her scalp torn away ais the result of becoming caught in milking machinery, was the unenviable experience of Mrs Markham, wife of Mr D. M. Markham, a farmer of Ararimu, yesterday morning. Her condition is reported to be fairly , serious.j A farmhand started the milking machine about 6.30 a.m., and a short time later Mjrs, Markham, notice,cL.the re-™, leaser was not 'functioning' properly.~ She climbed up td this paht of the” machinery, which, stands about six feet from the shed floor. Her hair became caught in the revolving shaft, and she fell to the floor screaming, portion .of her scalp being torn away. Mrs Markham’s hair was fairly short. After her wmunds had been dressed by Dr. H. Burrell of Papakura she was taken to the Auckland hospital by taxi.
