BUCKLAND NEWS. RETURNED SU LDIERS ’ EONCERI- - large crowd assen RReR Buckland hall last evening, concert and dance was held i* Franklin Returned Soldiers’ Assoc*.’’ lion distress fund. The proceeds are expected to total £ls. Mr S. P. Day thanked the promoters for their efforts, and spoke outlining the work of the association. A splendid programme was presented, those giving items being: Mr ,T. G Gasparich (songs), accompanied by Mrs Gasparich: Mr W. Dalgleish (songs), accompanied by Mr T. H. Midgley: humorous items by Messrs H. V. Cribble and R. Syverston: Mr F. O’Hara (recitations) : Mrs McNally, of Patumahoe "(Scotch songs). Mr F. A. Hosking stated that Mrs McNally had done a great deal for the association, and they were pleased that she was able to be present. While supper was being served. Mr Gasparich, in his jovial manner, led community singing. Subsequently dancing was indulged in until a late hour. Messrs Midgley and Taylor provided music, and extra numbers were played by Mrs TT. Harrison and Miss D Wright.
