The following guides were successful in obtaining proficiency badges at Papatoetoe last Saturday:—Doris Milliken, cyclist, laundress and entertainer: Rona Spinley, cyclist, laundress and entertainer: Gloria Jackson, laundress and entertainer; Eileen Clarke, laundress and entertainer: Dorothy MoConnell, laundress: Carlien Ryan, laundress: Joyce Sutton, laundress. GILLIES CUP FOR BROWNIES. The Papakura pack is the proud holder of the Gillies cup for Brownies, as a result of the Manukau district's inter-pack competition for handcraft, held at Papatoetoe last Saturday. Six

entries w-erc required from each pack, those from Papakura being:— Dressed doll: Joan Smith, "Baby" and Doreen Lannigan, "Little Red Riding Hood." Knitting: June Spinley, tea cosy, and Annis Sutton, bed socks. Raffia work: Jessie Hastings, purse, and Ruth Knibb, table mat. The pack obtained 94 marks out ,)f a possible 100. These articles will be for sale at the Brownies' stall at the bazaar for the hut building fund, in October.
