NOTES FROM ARARIMU.

A SUCCESSFUL CONCERT.

I On Friday last a concert, organise! ! by Mrs Ellis, was held in the/Ararimu church hall. The hall was tastefully decorated with punga ferns and curtains. There was a good attendance and the; objective, to : raise the balance required for the purchase of an organ for the church was attained. Vocal solos were given by Mrs Dick, Mrs Ellis and Mr Geoff Fausett. Duets were sung by Mrs Ellis and.Mr Strange and Mr and Mrs Fausett. The choir was, heard in several numbers.- Instrumental items were renderedby the following: Pianoforte,solo, Miss Adamson; violin solo, Miss Joyce Fausett; mandolin solo, Mr Peterson: novelty item, "music from a saw," by the Rev. E. J. Clarke; and elocutionary items by Miss Edna Jackson, Master Wilson Turner and Mr J. .Shaw. Mr A. Best, of Bombay,, entertained the audience with some humorous stories.

A dialogue, "Honesty is the best policy," was given by Messrs J. Shaw, R. W. Robinson, L. Strange, E. Jackson and Masters Logan Shaw and Adrian Jackson. A dainty supper was served at the close of the concert. The official opening of the Ararimu Basketball Club took place: on Saturday. Two local teams played and a very keen game was enjoyed by both players and onlookers.
