Less Bread Being Eaten.

[ A witness who was giving evidence in the Pukekohe court on Wednesday in a case connected with the bakerybusiness, said unemployment was common among bakers. This led the magistrate, Mr F. H. Levient, to ask: "Surely there is as much bread being eaten as previously?" "They are outing some bread, but not as much as before," replied the witness, the secretary of the bakers' union. "There are 70 men less in the trade than (here were 12 months ago. Last year there were .30 unemployed bakers; now there are 70. There are 350 bakers in the Auckland industrial area," ht added.
