Ts nicotine poisonous? Well, what about the case of Alice Crawford, the young domestic, whose terrible death was recently recorded in London. One day the poor girl rushed into her Mistress' presence shrieking that sh-.; had been poisoned. Five minutes later she was dead. Appeared lhat her master kept a bottle of liquid nicotine ir. his room, used it to kill weeds. Curiosity evidently prompted deceased to taste it. Her lips and tongue were bady burned. And this is the deadly poison so many men absorb mto their systems every time they smoke their pipes. Taken that way nicotine is slow but" sure—-and every pipeful ot some tobaccos contains an appreciable quantity of the poison! Why smoke such stuff when you can get New Zealand tobacco anywhere and which, owing to its being toasted, is practically fveo from nicotine, quite innocuous, and famous for flavour and fragrance? There are only four brands: Riverhead Gold, Navy Cut No. 3, Cavendish find Cut Plug No. 10'. But take care what you buy—thpre are imitations.
