FARMERS' UNION.

BRANCH FORMED AT PUKEKAWA. OFFICERS ELECTED. A meeting of members of the Farmers' Union in the Pukekawa district was held in Mr Slater's woolshed, Pukekawa, on Friday evening. Mr E. H. Mason, presiding over a good attendance. Mr N. F. Taylor, area officer of the union, was introduced to the meeting by the chairman, and delivered an address on the constitution of the union, and some of its principal objectives. Mr Taylor appealed lo farmers to use every influence to ensure that delegates going to the forthcoming Ottawa Conference would work for lower N.Z. duties on British goods. Derating farm lands for roading purposes, another of the main aims of the union, was also dealt with by the

speaker. It was unanimously resolved to form the Pukekawa branch of the union, and the election of officers resulted: Chairman, Mr E. H. Mason: vice-chair-men, Messrs A. E. Brewster and A. Cameron; secretary, Mr I. G. Morrison: delegate and assistant delegate to sub-province, Messrs Mason and Morrison : branch committee, foregoing officers and Messrs T. Murray. W. J. Connell. W. D. Corby. R. A. Hall and L Wells.

The next, meeting was fixed for Monday. June 6, at. 8 p.m.. and the meeting closed with votes of thanks to Mr Tavior and the chairman.
