NOT WANTED.

BOROUGH AT PAPAKURA.

EXPENSE TOO GREAT

The advisability or otherwise of moving for the constitution of a borough for Papakura was discussed at a combined meeting of the town board and Chamber of Commerce on Thursday evening. The subject did not excite a great deal of interest. One speaker stated they would have a Lord Mayor and a lot more expense, and more rating powers.

Eilerslie was cited as a sensible sort of place which had not merged yet from a town district: also Pukekohe had found their mistakes out. “The whole subject," said the speaker, “ought to be very carefully thoughtout.

Other speakers expressed lhe opinion that the only advantage the people would get was that they would elect their own Mayor, otherwise there was no advantage in being a borough to-day. The discussion was not pursued.
