METHODIST S. SCHOOL.

ANNIVERSARY SERVICES. I i .LARGELY ATTENDED. The 35th anniversary services" of the Papakura Methodist Sunday School were held in the Sunday school hall on Sunday. The. attendances at . each service were large especially in the evening when about 140 were present. The scholars totalled between 70 and 80. There was special chorus singing by the scholars under the baton of Mr T. G. Seaton and this was most enjoyable. The boys let themselves go in art appropriate marching song. The little ones sang sweetly in "Little Eyes" verses being sung as solos by Inez Holmes and Noreen Huckstep. Miss Nancy Martin sang very feelingly a solo "Jesu Lover of the Children" while Miss Melva Markwick rendered sweetly "A Consecration Hymn." Ivan Cox recited the 2;?rd Psalm and Leslie Williamson read the scripture lesson telling the story of the "Galling of Samuel." The Rev. E. P. Blamires' address in the morning was based on Abraham Lincoln's famous phrase, "I want it said j of mo by Ihoso who know me best, | Hint I always plucked a thistle and | planted a flower where I thought a i 1 flower would grow." The preacher strove to leach the children by story and precept how to pluck the thistles out of their lives, and grow flower gardens in the place where thistles had previously grown. The Rev. J. V. Martin spoke to the parents ;il the evening service on the "Growth of the Child." The speaker maintained that "God made children all alike but with different natures; all children were gn-ui imitators so woe bcLide us if our example is not of the ' right example. If the boy and girl I discovers yon are as true, us steel, i'■ they will grow up to call you blessed ! and will themselves grow, into beautiful roses which will glorify their Mak-

er the Fa liter God." The services were continued oi Tuesday with Hi" annual social am prize-giving.
