MASSEY CHALLENGE CUP. The Alassey challenge cup was retained by the Mercer Tennis Club on Saturday, when it defeated the challenging team, St. James, by 11 sets (99 games) to three sets (62 games). Details of play are, St. James names being first mentioned: — Men’s doubles: T. Fausett. lost to Enting, 2 —9; 'A. Fausett lost to Western, 5—9.' Ladies’ singles: Aliss A. Scott beat Aliss Calvert, 6 —4; Airs Fitness lost to Aliss Lowther, 3 —6. Ladies’ doubles: Aliss A.Scott and Mrs Fitness beat Misses Calvert and Lowther, 6—5; Misses D. Ferguson and N. Perkins beat Alesdames Laing and Wilson, 5 —6: Alr s Shotbolt and Miss N. Lauer beat Alisses Bainbridge and Laing, 6—5. Alen’s doubles: T. Fausett and A. Fausett lost to Enting and Western, 2 —9; Gill and I. Fausett lost to Laing and Kennedy, 6—9; Perkins and J. Adams lost to McFadzean and Watkinson, 6 —9. Combined doubles: Gill and Aliss Ferguson lost to Laing and Mrs Laing, 5 —7; I. Fausett and Miss Perkins lost to Kennedy and Mrs Wilson, 2—7; Perkins and Mrs Shotbolt lost to McFadzean and Miss Bainbridge, 4 — 7; Adams and Aliss Lauer lost to Watkinson and Miss Laing, 4—7.
