SCHOOL CONCERT.
i FUNCTION AT PAPA&URA. i AN EXCELLENT PHOGHAMME. i The annual school concert given by the Papakura pupils was a very pronounced success. The Paragon theatre was crowded to the doors. All . the items were well given and showed ; evidence of careful training on the | part of the teaching staff. The proceedings were opened with the Nationi al Anthem, after which a very enjoyi able little number was given by the j infants entitled "The Old Clock," fol- | lowed by a mouth organ solo by Mas- \ lev L. Johnson. Master I. Cox gave a very excellent recitation which was well received. A popular item with j the children was "Father Christmas" Iby the infants. Not the least enteri laining part of the programme was a j musical sketch by standards 111 and IV. i The duet "Larboard -Watch" wellknown to most, singers was well rendered by four girls and two boys, one of the boys had such a powerful voice that another half-dozen girls' voices would not have made much difference. A little playette, "The Mad Tea Party," by standard II children provided lots lof fun. The song "Land of my Fathers," which was exceptionally well sung, followed. The playette, "A bundle of sticks," was a very entertaining piece of work and was enjoyed. A dance by J. Holloway and J. Parker drew great applause. As a winding-up number, "Merry and Bright" (a playette) concluded a very successful concert. The headmaster, Mr J. E. Elliott, and his teaching staff, are to be congratulated on the excellence of the programme.
