SOCIAL CLUB’S FUNCTION. A I.AR GE ATT EN DANGE > One of Ihe most successful social functions of the year was the fancy dress dance held in the Oddfellows Hall on Saturday evening by the Pukekohe Literary andjSocial Club. There was an attendance of between 200 and 300 "members and them*, friends. Music was played by the club orchestra. Messrs 1). Fallows and O. Stoupe were Masters of Ceremonies.

A feature of the function was tb number and the wide variety of costumes worn. Tiie judges, Dr. A. 1 • Begg, Mrs Bakalich (Tuakau) and Mrs J). F. Keane had an unenviable task in deciding on the prize winners. _ The successful ones 7 were: Miss M. \ aider, Early Victorian; Miss W. Richardson, “Jacko, The Monkey:” Messrs Kingdom and A. Read, A Cow; Mi* Stoupe, “Black Mammy”; Mr C. Lawrie, Persian Prince; Miss Gladys Annstrong “Absent-Minded Professor ; Misses Johnston and Dickson, Spring Chickens.

Prizes were donated by Messrs C. K. Lawrie, G. Bowden, F. Perkins, E. h! Keating, R. G. May, A. Schlaepfcr and J. Patterson.
