TOWN BOARD MEET.

GENERAL BUSINESS TRANSACTED

Tiie regular meeting of the Papakura Town Board was held on Monday evening, there being present, Mr J. McCall (chairman), Messrs G. Leitch, H. E. McEntee. D. Weir. W. Rhind. J. Andrew, Rev. W. G. Wood, Mr A. L. Cooper (clerk) and Mr J. E. Morrileau (foreman).

The Auckland Institute and War Memorial Museum- communicating in regard to the proposed floodlighting of the museum, advised that owing to ihe interruption in the supply from \rapuni it had been found necessary to postpone further consideration of the scheme.—Received.

The Papakura Beautifying Society advised that Messrs A. Willis, E. Hosking and A. Butter worth had been appointed to act in conjunction with the reserves committee.—Received and approved. - • '

Mrs Ruby E. Watson, St. Heller's Bay, wrote stating that if the hoard was in favour of having an open market in Auckland to forward a resolution to the city council asking that a site be obtained and a market established. The market would absorb a large amount of the produce being wasted and would also enable those who had very small means, to live cheaply.—it was decided to ask for further information.

The Northern Building Society wrote asking that the 10 per cent penalty imposed on rates on a property over which it held a mortgage be remitted, as it had only learned that the amount had not been paid.—The board decided it was unable to accede to the'request.

The board's solicitor, Mr S. D. Rice, forwarded for execution a lease between the board and Mr G. H. Kernot. — Approved. in his monthly report the health officer. Mr T. C. Thompson, advised fhal there had been one ca.' .:• of erysipelas in the town district. He had made IS sanitary inspections and served six requisitions.
