REPAIR WORK COSTS £6OO. EXPRESSION OF APPRECIATION. Appreciation of the manner in which repair work was carried out on the Hingaia bridge, 'was expressed by Cr. A. R. T. Urquhart at Monday's meeting of the Franklin County Council. The work was done with the minimum of inconvenience to the public, lie added. The engineer reported that the bridge was opened for traffic on June 30. "Should nothing- unforseen Happen as regards faults in other sections oi the bridge, the structure should now stand for a considerable number ot vears without further expense other than ordinary maintenance,'" said the engineer. "Since the first subsidence took place the upper side of one pier hds settle'd" one-quarter of an inch." The total cost of the work carried out, including all material and labour, was upwards of £OOO. ■
