CLOSING OF LAWNS.

PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES

The official closing of the Pukekohe Croquet Lawns took place on Saturday last, when there was a good attendance of members. Progressive croquet was played, and the lawns being in excellent order, the games were much enjoyed. The winners in the A and B grades were Mesdames Nosworthy and Keith respectively, and The runners up Mrs Mcßae and Miss M. Pollock. The trophies were donated by Mesdames Webb and Fausett. Members then adjourned to the bowling pavilion foe afternoon tea, after which the trophies competed for during the season were presented to the winners and runners up. The first trophy to be presented was the Avrshire cup which the president, Mrs J." H. Webb, presented to Mrs R. Fitness, as captain of the winning team. Other competitions were won by the following;— Handicap singles. —-A grade; Miss •Ramsav (winner), Mrs Mcßae (runneiup). B grade: Miss Pollock (winner), Mrs Fausett (runner-up). Trophies for this competition were donated by Mr and Mrs Webb and Mrs Fitness. Handicap doubles. —Mrs A. C. Gill and Miss Eva Ramsay. The trophies were donated by Mrs Bloxharn. Mr Dell’s trophies, progressive cro(iuct_\ grade: Mrs Nosworthy (winner), Mrs Webb (runner-up). B grade: Airs Fausett (winnei.is Blake (runner-up). Saturday’s play (for Ibe season;, Mhe best fifteen scores of each player: A n- rade: Airs Nosworthy (winner). Mrs 5 Fitness (runner-up). B grade: Airs Fausett (winner), Airs Blake, (runner-up). These trophies were donated by Mesdames Middlermss, McRae and Fausett. • The president thanked members lor so kindly donating trophies and lor their help and co-operation during the season. The proceedings terminated with three cheers for the president.
