FRANKLIN COUNTY.
THE ANNUAL MEETING. CHAIRMAN RE-ELECTED. The annual, meeting of the Franklin County Council was held this afternoon, there being present:—Ors. ,1. N. Massey, M.P., If. P. Garland, C. Dickey, M. Aldrcd. J. Henry, it. .). Flay, T. .). Lockwood, 11. Wilcox, J. Dean and A. R. T. IJrquhart, Mr Alan P. Day (clerk) and Mr ,). F. McArthur( engineer) . The clerk presided. Cr. Wilcox moved that Cr. Massey he elected chairman of Hie county for the ensuing year. In moving that Cr. Massey he elected, Cr. Wilcox referred to Ihe able manner in which Cr. Massey had presided over the meetings of the council during the last year, and to the capable manner in which lie had filled the office of chairman of the county. Cr. Wilcox wont on to say he thought some re-arrangement ol' the meeting days would enable Cr. Massey to attend all meetings of the council, even during the session of Parliament. He felt sure it was the unanimous wish of the council that Cr. Massey should continue at the bead of the council table.
Councillor Flay seconded Ihe motion, and several other councillors spoke in support of same and referred to fhe work of the chairman in the past year.
On being put to the meeting the motion was carried unanimously. Upon assuming the chair, Cr. Masj sey sincerely thanked the members I for the honour they had conferred on him by re-electing him unanimously to the office of chairman of the county. He felt confident he had no need to assure them he would strive in the future, as he had done during the past year, to fill the office to the best of his ability and would at all times try to further the interests of ratepayers in Franklin county.
