MANGOLD GROWING COMPETITION.

WEIGHT OF CROPS

There were 21 entries in Hie man-

gold-growing competition for the prizes presented by the, Mauku branch of the Farmers’ [Tnion for Hie best crops of mangolds in Mauku. Patu-

mahoe, and Waiau. The judging' is being done by Mr Bell, of the Agricultural Department. Weighing of crops lias now been completed, but points have still to be awarded for quality, evenness and freedom from weeds. The following is the present position of the competitiors:— Pearson Bros., (58 tons per acre; C. Fulton Gi tons: E. Syme G2 tons.

The points still to be awarded are not considered likely to dislodge PearSGn Bros, from the first place, hut may affect a change for second and third places.
