I I Track Round Mount Eginont. . 1 A new track round Mount Eginont in--1 side the National Park should be an j accomplished fad in the near future, I states Ihe Taranaki Daily News. At , present it is possible to journey from Dawson Falls in the. south via the east and north houses to Kahui road in the west. The western committee of the Park Board lias just completed a track ; which gives direct access to Opunake. Starting from the' Kahui road track about a mile below the house, the track goes straight to the Oaonui River, and thence to the Ihaia road, which leads into Opunake. Here there is a track leading to Beanie's Falls, whence it is proposed to cut a track to the moss on Fanfham’s Peak. The western committee is also preparing a number of direction posts. Such a track round the mountain should considerably minimise the, risk of climbers becoming lost on the mountain. It. moreover, . opens up some, splendid (ramping country. Mr Magnus Hughson. chairman of the committee, who has been over the track roeenlly, says that il traverses some of tim finest hush on the mountain, there, being some magniflcient rimu and rata trees near the Oaonui River. Indeed, an experienced 1 bushman considers one of the. rimu in • bo (he largest specimen he has seen. 1
