PUKEKOHE COMPETITION. A" WIN FOR PUKEKOHE. ' The. Pukekohe cricket Association's competition was continued on Saturday when Pukekohe met Karaka at the Karaka ground. The home team batted first and compiled the very satisfactory score of 158 runs, due principally to E. Mulgan who rattled up 50 and Gilroy who put on 45. The only other double figure score was Gilmore with 15 Both Mulgan and Gilroy played stylish cricket bringing off many fine strokes. Muigan's score included one six and five fours and Gilroy's two fours. He v scored chiefly singles.

Fox, bowling for Pukekohe, took 5 wickets for 26 runs, the last four being captured at a cost of 6 runs. Pukekohe's task of getting 159 runs to win seemed a formidable one, and lucidly for the team, Rose and Pleydell were in form. This pair opened the innings and knocked up 172 runs before Pleydell decided to retire. The latter got his century, the second his season, a score which included three sixes and eight fours. Rose carried his bat for 63 runs, and did not score as freely as his colleague, simply because Pleydell got most of the bowling. Both played some good cricket. Rose's score included three fours. Pukekohe lost two wickets, Drake and Schlaepfer , going for "ducks." Appended are the scores:— KARAKA. Gilroy, run out, ; 45 Gilmore, b. Drake 15 Brooke, c. H. Pleydell, b. Lawrie .7 Ashworth, c. W.
