PUKEKOHE STOCK MARKET.
YESTERDAY'S SALE
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons Ltd., conducted their first sale after the Easter holidays at Pukekohe yesterday, in the presence of a good attendance of buyers. There was an average yarding of cattle and a fairyarding of pigs. As far as the latter were concerned, there was a steady demand for all classes of fat pigs and' prices were equal to those ruling at late sales elsewhere.
Cattle were not up to the usual quality yarded at Pukekohe, this being the off season. In the dairy section, the quality was only fair throughout and consequently bidding was steady, but for anything outstanding bidding was spirited. Very few stores were yarded, while beef prices were maintained. Quotations are as follow:
Dairy Cattle: Best Jersey cows close to profit, £ll 10s to £l4; Shorthorn cows close to profit, £8 10s to £11; backward cows, £5 10s to £7 10s; Jersey heifers close to profit, £ll to £l3; Shorthorn, heifers close to profit, £9 to £ll 10s; one extra choice Shorthorn heifer £l4; two to three year old Jersey heifers, which had been running with bull, sold from £7 -10 s to £9 Others sold from £5 to £6 10s. These .are mostly July and August carvers. Beef: Extra heavy prime cows, £9 to £lO 12s 6d; lighter prime, £7 to £8 10s; ordinary cows, £5 to £6 15s; old and boner cows, £1 5s to £4 10s; light prime steers, £lO 10s to £ll 15s. Bulls, £3 7s 6d to £7. Sfores: Polled Angus cows and calves sold up to £l2 ss. Pigs: Choppers £1 10s to £2 14s; heavy baconers, £3 13s to £3 18s; medium baconers, £3 7s to £3 lis; light baconers, £3 to £3 4s; heavy porkers, £2 lis to £2 10s; light and medium, £2 to £2 7s; small aria: unfinished, £1 8s" to £1 15s; best stores, £1 3s to £1 7s; smaller, 17s to 20s; slips, lis to 13s; weaners, 3s to 9s; according to size and quality; sows in pig sold to £1 10s; boars fit for service, £1 5s to £1 15s.
FRANKTON STOCK SALE.
LATE RATES MAINTAINED. The Farmers'' Co-operative Auctioneering Company report:— At the weekly stock market in the Frahkton yards on Tuesday, we had a short market of beef cattle which sOld at late rates, a small number of fat sheep were penned and sold firm at slightly improved values, fair entry of fat pigs sold at usual rates. We quote:— Beef:—Heavy fat cows, £8 17s to £lO 2s 6d; medium weight, £7 10s to £8; light, £6 13s to £7: unfinished, £5 10s to £6 2s 6d; Jersey and Jersey cross heifer calves, £3 to £3 3s. Sheep: Medium weight fat wethers. 335: extra prime fat ewes, 295; fat lambs, 26s 9d to 27s 3d; shorn ewe lambs. 20s Id; small 2 tooth ewes, 29s 6d.
Pigs: Baconers, £3 10s to £3 12s; light baconers, £3 4s to £3 6s: porkers, £2- 10s to £2 19s; light, £1 19s to £2 7s; slips, 14s 6d; weaners, Bs.
