Attorney-General to/attach the person of Edward Robeson,; of Addirigton, Christchurch, and : Icommit him to prison, for publishing in the newspaper Star in August last, 'certain matter in relation to one JLucy Prosser, a witness in the Mouat case, ; calculated to prejudice or interfere the due administration of justice. _A similar motion was made against the publisher of the Sun newspapers for : .contempt of court, arising, out of a paragraph which was quoted by the Star'.-;. •<" ■ ■,.-,,.. •
The, Attorney-General said the mat- " ter hadi been, brought before the court /by direction of the Judge. The paragraph headed "Smiles .for Mouat" was ;" considered a grave interference with ■ the, trial, as the witness concerned ; was an important one, having identified k. Mrs Mouat's clothes. . Comment was , more than a suggestion that witness ': was- favourable to prisoner. The ;gument is unfinished.
