MAY COLLAPSE

'Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day

'There has been much discussion recently . oyer a tunnel being pierced through the hill near Karori for tramway purposes. Cracks had appeared and doubts as to its safety were exressed. The City Council officers minimised them, and generally conJ tended that there was no cause fpr .alarm. Mr Semple, in view of' his 'experience in tunnel work, was asked to report, and he states that there are three 14ft. sections that are badly cracked, and are unsafe.
