SHOW ANOMALY.
(To the Editor). Sir, —I consider the action of the Franklin Jersey Club in restricting the points prize in the Jersey section to members of their club is a retrograde step. Will it not tend to discourage outside exhibitors? We do not, above all things, want our Show to degenerate into a parochial affair, and the more outside exhibitors we get of the calibre of Chynoweth, Meirs, Church, etc., the better. If they bring down a team strong enough to win the points prize, why should it be withheld from them? Personally, I think it a most unfair condition.
. Might I also make a suggestion that the class for a bull and two female progeny be altered to read "Best three females (not necessarily the same owner) the progeny of one pedigree bull." Many of our best cows have been got by bulls that perhaps never won in a show ring, and I contend that in this class it is the bull's progeny that should count, not the bull self. On Jersey Island the award is made to the bull, judged by the merits of his progeny, and the sire himself is often absent. In 1920 they were all absent.—l am, etc., — H. W. LE BAILLY. Buckland, January 16, 1925.
