BOROUGH WORKS.
Ei* 31 ME L R’s REPORT. At Monday’s meeting of the Borough Council, the engineer, i\i r L. Sharp, reported as follows : Works Completed. During the fortnight the work shown below has been carried out : Entrance to Mr J. Adams’, Cape Hi!) Poad; trimming of footpath, Queen Street; repairs to the public pound; entrance to the
show grounds ; drain a’ong Lawrie’s boundary, Victoria Street ; entrance to St. Joseph’s school; culvert and formation at Hewlett’s corner; placing* of scoria on Belgium Road and rolling; reforming and grading of Belgium Road, from end of scoria to Roose’s ; draining of spring,' 'Franklin Road ; construction of asphalt cricket pitch; electric extensions in Queen Street, and in Anzac Road to Jellicoe Road ; street lights have been erected at Paerata Road corner, Rowles’ corner, Kitchener Road and Hall Street. Work to be done on electric scheme.
--As instructed at the last meeting of the council, I ,beg to report that the following shows the work authorised, but not yet carried out on the electric light scheme: Extension along Beatty's Road, from Princess Street, a distance of 12 chains ; extension a 7 ong Helvetia Road, from Princess Street, to boundary distance of 22 chains ; extension along Paerata Road, from Adams’ bridge corner, a distance of 24 chains ; extension along Anzac Road, from Jellicoe Road to corner, a distance of 3 chains ; erection of 57 street light brackets ; erection of 9 suspended lamps for King Street ; construction of elevators for charging gas producer; installation of meter tester.
Paerata Creek.—The cleaning of this creek from the main road bridge at Paerata is being carried out. The Mayor -moved that the report be received, and that the engineer be instructed to carry out the work as authorised at the earliest possible date.
