MARKET REPORTS.
J. Jones, auctioneer, on the corner, City Markets, x-eports sales for week ending February 25:—• A very busy time was experienced during the week. Many country orders for gass seed and manures arrived and were fulfilled at last week’s auction prices. The demand for all lines of produce considerably increasd and prices were firm, especially for potatoes, many being required for Island orders. At this week’s auction large quantities of previously advertised lines of asbestos, roofing, felt and wire brought many eager buyers, and were readily disposed of. Local and Island fruit, which were in diminished quantity, was well cleared, and we recommend consignments of fruit, for which there exists a strong demand. Poultry, which for many months past has been in heavy .supply, wei'e this week penned short, and prices sharply advanced with the exception of young cockerels, of which there was an exceedingly large quantity. Young ducks in good number brought many .purchasers, w’hile a strong demand exists for pullets and good killing roosters. Consignments of produce, eggs, butter, fruit and poultry are recommended.
