PAERATA.

The committee formed to forward the movement for a school at Paerata is working steadily in the desired direction. A deputation waited on the Minister for Education when he was in the district recently and received a sympathetic, hearing. That there is need of a school was conceded by the Minister but, presumably in these days of stringency, the financial barrier will -prove the real obstacle. Harvesting is now practically" complted and good yields should in some measure compensate lor lower prices. The County Council has a good team of men working on the roads of the district and the improvement in already apparent, although much remains to be clone. On Sunday last, in the goods shed, tht Rev. J. P. Cowie (Anglican) conducted the first public religious service held in Paerata - . The good attendance must have been very gratifying to the minister, who announced his intention of holding regular monthly services in future.
