SMUGGLING OF DRUGS IS REVEALED BY ROAD ACCIDENT
JERUSALFKM, August 19. At the trial of a British lieutenant and sergeant and an Arab for conspiring to smuggle dangerous drugs from Palestine to" Egypt, Gwendolyn Victoria Cooper, of the British Army road show, ‘Jute Box.’ who turned a Crown witness, said the Arab promised her £SOO if the plan to smuggle drugs in trunks belonging to the Army show .succeeded. The police, after su road accident, found the road show truck loaded with £45,000 worth of opium and hashish in three quali- > J ties, the best called “ The Drink of Princes ” and the second-best . called “ Winston Churchill.” The sergeant was sentenced to eight months’ imprisonment, but as he had | been iri custody since his arrest he .was discharged.- > The lieutenant and the Arab will appear in court to-morrow.
