SECURITY COUNCIL UNABLE TO FIND SOLUTION OF BALKAN DISPUTE

(Rec. 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, August 20. The Soviet used the veto twice late to-day to kill resolutions before the Security Council on the Balkan dispute —one' sponsored by the United States .unci the other by Australia, with American support. Both resolutions were defeated,by 9 votes to 2, with Russia and Poland voting against, The Council president, Faris El Khoury (Syria) said there was nothing left to do but report to the General Assembly that the Council was unable to find a'solution. He said the Council would hold no more meetings on the Balkan issue, but a subsidiary group of the United, Nations Balkan Inquiry Commission would remain in the trouble area.
